Sitting with our feelings isn’t easy.
It’s uncomfortable and unpleasant.
It’s painful, overwhelming and often times, unbearable.
But despite the fact that it feels like it will last forever, it’s important to remember that our feelings always pass.
Holding in your emotions only perpetuates your feelings and intensifies their discomfort.
The only way to release the feelings and move on is to allow yourself to feel them.
This means letting go of any judgement you’ve placed on your emotions.
It means giving yourself the freedom to feel whatever you feel, whenever you feel it.
And it means feeling your feelings fully and completely, without conditions.
Avoiding what we feel by using unhealthy behaviors or coping mechanisms may temporarily relieve the pain we feel, but it doesn’t remedy the problem causing us our pain.
It keeps us stuck.
And it prevents us from fully letting go of the feelings and moving forward.
You’ve held onto your hurt for long enough.
It’s time to let go.
It’s time to sit with the discomfort.
Because it will pass.
And because you will survive.
You are stronger than you know.
You just have to believe in yourself….
